Thanks to its know-how in the biotechnologies field, AQUAPROX develops and markets natural products, nutrients, and micro-organisms with diverse industrial applications (for the agrofood and chemicals sectors, the paper-making industry, etc.).
Called “white biotechnologies”, these biotechnologies are used for industrial purposes in the fabrication, transformation or breakdown of molecules thanks to natural enzymatic or fermentation processes and as an alternative to chemical processes in order to foster economic savings and sustainable development.
AQUAPROX has developed a wide variety of cultures since it was founded, and in particular developed the ²Optibiom®² process, which enables the biomass to be amplified before it is shipped to the plant for efficient treatment of the effluents.
The AQUAPROX, bioreactor, a mycetes amplifier associated with the Optibiom range’s products, enables growth to be controlled and optimum production of amplified micro-organisms.

The AQUAPROX bioreactor creates an environment which allows controlled growth and optimal production of amplified micro-organisms on wastewater plant effluent.

Issue to be dealt with
Increasing the wastewater plant’s capacity to respond to a COD load experiencing a 50 % increase (continuous operation of the plant) whilst complying with the discharge standards.
The plant includes an anaerobic stage followed by an aerobic stage.
AQUAPROX solution proposed
Optibiom®4470 fungal treatment in the aeration tank.
Increase in the COD efficiency of the aerobic stage from 43 to 60%. Reduction in the produced sludge volume by 42%.
No investment outlays for the customer and operational savings. Treatment using fungal bioaugmentation is made profitable by the gain made on the sludge process.
Discharge in accordance with the requirements of the Prefectural operational order.
The implementation of biotechnologies enables a qualitative gain (treatment efficiencies) and also a quantitative gain (operational savings).
